CAM Assist uses advanced computer science techniques and AI to generate intuitive machining strategies in minutes or seconds, depending on complexity, which could take CNC machine programmers hours or even days to manually create.
As a result, the amount of time it takes to program a CNC machine to make a component - a bottleneck in many factories – is greatly reduced, compared to the previous manual programming process, as is the time spent to estimate how much a new component will cost to program. That gain enables manufacturers using CAM Assist to raise productivity and shorten lead times, while also estimating for more work, more quickly.
GibbsCAM users can also immediately benefit from the new 2.0 version of CAM Assist. In the new 2.0 web UI, the user generates a working toolpath by pressing the CAM Assist button, and CAM Assist 2.0 breaks out the AI stages so that parts can be assessed prior to running. Moreover, as files are being computed, control over strategy editing is passed to the user.

- Human-in-the-loop oversight – Before any toolpath is committed to a CAM system, CAM Assist enables review, letting users inspect, adjust and edit each strategy operation so shop standards are never compromised.
- Seamless hand-off – Once approved, the strategies are pushed directly back into the user’s preferred CAM package, ready for code generation and verification
CAM Assist 2.0 also makes machine, material, and tool assembly management easy, as it is tailored to the user’s shop environment and configures itself to the customer.
