We launched Quote Agent to help machine shops spend less time preparing quotes and respond to customers sooner. The problem was familiar: the people best placed to assess a new job were often the same people needed to keep existing work moving.
Since then, manufacturing publications have covered the launch, industry leaders have explored the technology, and early users have shared what it means for their businesses. Their experiences show that Quote Agent gives users time back at the machine, quicker replies to customers and more confidence in the work being priced.
Here is a roundup of the coverage and customer stories so far:
What early users are reporting
Customers are already raving about the impact Quote Agent is making for them:
Tru Precision CNC: Owner Philip Pence reports quoting 27 different parts in 20 minutes, freeing the rest of his day for machining.
Redco Precision: General Manager Chris Busby says Quote Agent helped secure a job worth more than £30,000. He attributes much of that success to getting back to the customer within an hour.
Auxilium Manufacturing: Michael Oliver says faster responses have helped the business win jobs by being first to quote, including occasions when its price was higher than competitors’.
Go Man Machine Shop: Owner Howard Goman describes using Quote Agent to check machining times, helping him feel more confident in estimates and more competitive on price.
ILM Tool: Senior Vice President Colin O’Brien highlights getting a fair price back to customers quickly, giving the business a better chance of winning work.
The interviews behind the launch
MachineToolNews.ai’s interview with CloudNC CEO Theo Saville explored the manufacturing knowledge behind an estimate, including how design for manufacture feedback and quality documentation can support the quoting process.
On MakingChips episode 546, published on 26 October and recorded at IMTS, the conversation with Theo and our COO Jason Bowes covered why quoting becomes a bottleneck, how estimates relate to actual machining times, and where experienced judgement remains essential.
Jason has also shared his thoughts on Why we made Quote Agent and how his experience running the CloudNC factory filtered in to product development, and also What you need to know about the new solution if you’re interested in giving it a try.
Elsewhere, industry legend Titan Gilroy, of Titans of CNC, took a look at the new solution in The Number One Skill in Machining Isn’t What You Think, as did influencer Octane Workholding.
Quote Agent in the manufacturing press
Production Engineering Solutions, Machinery and Aerospace Manufacturing covered the launch on 15 October. They picked up the commercial problem behind quoting: a slow response can lose an opportunity, while a poor estimate can leave a shop committed to work at the wrong price.
Machinery Market, Practical Machinist, Machinery & Manufacturing and Industrial Machinery Digest also carried the launch announcement, including the free manual quoting workflow and the option to try the AI agent. Further abroad, Portugal’s 3DCadPortal, Czechia’s Cad.CZ and Hungary’s CNC.hu all covered the release.
In its 23 October article, DEVELOP3D described how drawings, models and RFQs become a proposed manufacturing plan, with estimated times, costs and inspection requirements. It also highlighted a central part of the workflow: the estimator reviews and approves the final quote.
